Penguin word family fun
We had a great time today sorting word family words! Each student had a word family sorting mat and the baby penguins were put into the middle of the table. I told this story "The baby penguins were having fun playing at the park. All of a sudden, they heard, Time for dinner! You need to come home! Can you help the baby penguins find their home? " Each child then searched for the babies that belonged in their family mat. It was fun to hear them say things like "There are 2 boys and 2 girl baby penguins in my family!" Or "I have 3 boys and 1 girl!" Even though this was a literacy activity, math was also a part of it! Here are some pictures. Click on my name to follow the link to my TPT store to get the mats and baby penguins! It's a freebie! Enjoy!
