Hi everyone! Amy here from The Resourceful Room! I'm loving teaching 2nd grade this year. I've been working on my math block quite a bit lately. I really want everyone to be participating even when we are doing a whole group activity like calendar.
We use Saxon Math, and a huge component is the daily Math Meeting. We fill out the calendar together, recording the days of school, tally marks, place value, days of the week, and making graphs. I like the meeting it's a good time to practice some basic skills in a real world context, except I noticed that several students weren't really engaged. So I decided to create a Calendar sheet for students to fill in as they follow along with the daily helper who is filling out the calendar.
Here's what I came up with! These are the skills we work on daily. I printed them on cardstock and laminated them. We use dry erase markers to fill them out each day. It has really helped my class to focus and I've seen a big improvement in these skills for all my students. Click on the picture above to download this!
Hope you are all enjoying your week! Thanks for stopping by!

Great calendar form! I love the idea of laminating and reusing them- I can't justify daily copies for this sort of activity. But you have "talley" not 'tally"on the printable form. Oops;-)
ReplyDeleteLove this! What a great form! Thank you!
